Boswell Nails It

It's been quite a few years since I've been motivated to make another post.  I thought I had said everything there is to say about how Snyder Has Ruined the Redskins.

But ...  noooooooooooooooooooooo.  There's more.

First, I must give a standing ovation to Thomas Boswell's column in the Sunday Dec. 2, 2018 Post.  Here it is:

One of the best lines:  "It takes no imagination to predict the long-term demise of the Snyderskins' fan base, only good eyesight.  Look at FedEx Field."   Wow.  I had no idea, really, that the attendance reduction that I predicted 5+ years ago would come so soon.  Omniscient is too weak a word for me.

Another great Bos line:  "This team would claim Paul Manafort on waivers."  Still laughing about this one.  The Snyderskins (love that name, love Danskins even better)  just claimed Reuben Foster on waivers, a guy arrested three times THIS YEAR and who was accused of hitting his wife, a guy that no other team in the NFL would touch.  The amazing thing, really, is that according to Doug Williams (quit now before your reputation is irreversibly sullied) the front office was entirely in sync on this decision.  I'm actually surprised that they haven't signed Kareem Hunt, released by the Kansas City Chiefs after a video surfaced of him hitting and kicking a woman.  Paul Manafort would actually be an improvement on Foster and Hunt.

Bos came up with:  "Every game has thousands of empty seats, and many who do trek to the Dangeon cheer for the visiting team."  Perhaps he meant Dungeon?  In my old posts, I referred to the so-called stadium as located in Godforsakenville.  Still applies.

Perhaps Bos' best line:  "Whether it is his intransigence towards changing the team's nickname, or his attack on the Washington City Paper for printing a list of dozens of his offenses to civility, or the backstabbing in his front office when ousting GM Scot McCloughan, Snyder's team acts with all the tact, wisdom and compassion of the current White House."  Wow.  To be compared to the Trumpster is well, appropriate.

Bos, I couldn't have said it better myself.  Well, I did say it, from 2009-2013 (Inspired by the Bos, I enjoyed re-reading all my vitriolic, therapeutic posts this afternoon). 

The topper today came from my son, an avid - even rabid - Skins fan growing up, to whom I sent a link of the Bos column, with a good ol' "I Told You So".  He now has lived in LA for several years.  And his only retort to my email was to tell me that the Rams are now 11-1 and have clinched their division.  Go with a winner, son, go with a winner.

The only bright spot on the horizon is my prediction that Snyder - who cares a lot about the almighty dollar - will soon sell the team before the value drops to rock bottom.  Then, maybe, the owners of the Rams will snap it up, adopt a potato as a logo, release all of the criminals, and hire a front office devoid of sycophants, especially those whose last name is Allen, and go 11-1.

Whew, I feel better already.
